“His observations on what Frenchness means to the French and to others were highly on point and the comedian successfully managed to make his audience both laugh very hard as well as carefully think about the various interpretations that can be attached to the complex idea of national identities.”

What People Are Saying

“I don’t often go to see stand up comedians as I think humour is a unique taste to each person. However, I really LOVED French Bashing by a Frenchman! My father was a French teacher and I have spent time in France. I found the humour to be charming and I laughed and smiled throughout. Merci!”

— Joel Goodman

“Such a fabulous show. The best we have seen at the Fringe- that made my English husband giggle away and I, smile with huge fondness, at all the truths that were revealed about my compatriots. Please come here again next year- we will turn up to watch this fascinating French man.”

— Dorte Shepherd-Cross

“We loved this show - it’s very personal, very clever and very funny. The audience’s attention was captured by Francis right from the beginning, and he held it until the end. Lots of smiles on people’s faces throughout and many laughs.
Challenging and provocative, but in a gentle way. This is a well known conflict, the French… and it was very refreshing to be able to laugh at it, bizarrely with fondness and respect.
It’s good fun, go and see it!”

— Georgie Laird

“This is a very funny, charming and intimate show.
Our affable and soave host, the cosmopolitan 'Francis from France' - pulls no punches in laying bare the quirks and downright rudeness of French culture.
Francis is a gifted mimic with a particular ear for international businessmen from many different cultures.
I won't spoil the gags by revealing too much hear but there are some wonderful sketches on French food (of course) and French culture in general, which renders the show not merely enjoyable - but also - in its offering of insights - actually educational. Vive La France!”

— Nicholas Cohen

This was a lovely intimate show delivered by a very funny and charismatic performer. We spent a delightful hour in his company, following him through his hilarious attempts to navigate the perceptions that people around the world have of "les Français". His observations on what Frenchness means to the French and to others were highly on point and the comedian successfully managed to make his audience both laugh very hard as well as carefully think about the various interpretations that can be attached to the complex idea of national identities.”

— Francois Roubert

“My first time at The Fringe and what an introduction. French Bashing by a Frenchman was the perfect Indie show to break the ice of the festival. This performance was an intimate hour of Classic jibes against our least favourite European cousins. There were Parisian jokes, jokes based in France's former colonies, a brilliant vignette on Singapore - a non-stop Franco bashing monologue of revelry. Our Frenchman held his countrymen up to the light and we were left holding our sides after laughing so much. Brilliant - catch it if you can!”
